One Piece: Stampede is probably one of the most hyped anime movies this year, along with Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire and Makoto Shinkai's Weathering With You (Tenki no Ko). Since I'm a big fan of One Piece, of course I had to watch this movie. I never absent to watch every single One Piece movie since Strong World (I know I'm kinda late in this movie game). I finally got to watch this movie after work in a cinema in a mall not far from my office. The mall seemed to be just opened, so not much people there. The cinema is rather small and seemed like they used the store kiosk as their studio. Each studio fits for approximately no more that 50 persons.
Judging from the trailer that has been released earlier this year, I couldn't help but got the hype because it looked amazing! From the trailer, it has been hinted that Straw Hat Pirates is invited to the Pirate Festival in an island. However, it is not a mere festival, as there are some shady characters that may be the antagonist of the movie. It has some interesting characters that showed up like Sakazuki, Coby and even Rob Lucci from CP0. Convinced by the amazing trailer (and also a big fan of One Piece myself), I decided to watch this movie.
Overall, this movie has star-studded casts which highlights the movie. However, I think the overwhelming casts have overshadowed the story itself. The plot is not as strong as its predecessor movies like One Piece: Gold and One Piece: Z, but still enjoyable nevertheless. The main villain in this movie is seem overpowered like Z was in One Piece Z, but I don't really find him interesting as its predecessor villains. Shiki (One Piece: Strong World) is one of the One Piece Movie villain that really satisfied me.
Regardless, this movie has a very powerful soundtrack. I could hear everyone's excitement (including mine) when it played the re-arranged version of We Are, a classic One Piece OST. Also, Wanima served a really good song titled "GONG" for the credit which I like.
And please, don't leave your seats during credit. There would be some surprises for you!
